1. Data Protection Overview
We do not collect or store personal information such as names, addresses, or contact details directly. LostInBerlin is designed as a privacy first website: no user accounts, no personal data stored on our servers. We only process anonymized data for analytics via third party tools.
2. Analytics & Performance
To understand site usage and improve performance, we use:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Provides anonymous traffic reports. IP anonymized (&anonymizeIp enabled). Data processed by Google LLC as processor per Google Privacy Policy and our DPA (Data Processing Agreement) in GA4 Admin settings. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for site improvement.
- WP Statistics: Internal tool monitoring traffic. Configured to anonymize IP addresses, no cookies, no personal data recorded.
3. Cookie Policy
Cookies and local storage used solely for technical purposes. Categories: Functional (essential), Statistics & Marketing (consent required). Transfers outside EU (USA for GA4) protected by Google DPA and EU US Data Privacy Framework.
4. Your GDPR Rights
You have rights over your data: access, rectification, erasure (right to be forgotten), restriction, portability, objection (including profiling). Exercise them by emailing info@lostinberlin.com. We respond within 1 month. Lodge complaints with your national data protection authority. No automated decision making.
5. Managing Your Preferences
Manage consents via WP Consent API and Beautiful Cookie Consent (Functional always active; Statistics & Marketing opt in). Reset by clearing browser cache. To opt out: revoke consent and delete lostinberlin.com cookies. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(c)/(f) GDPR.
6. Third Party Services
We do not control third party cookies; review their policies. Main processor: Google LLC (DPA in place).
7. Data Retention and Security
Analytics data retention: 2 years (GA4 default). EU servers where possible. Security measures: HTTPS, anonymization.
